Truffle joins ConsenSys. With more than 8.5 million downloads, Truffle has long been an ecosystem favorite for new and experienced developers seeking the tools to expedite the smart contract and front end app development process. Truffle will also be leveraged by Quorum, Diligence, and Infura.
A Guide to ConsenSys’ Eth2 Products. No matter if you are a hobbyist wanting to run your own infrastructure or an institution wanting to provide staking services to clients, we’ve likely got a solution for you. From Teku, to Codefi, to Infura, our product teams have been busy over the last two years building the products and platforms to make Ethereum 2.0 possible.
30 Ethereum Things to be Thankful For. Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and Clemens Wan in his signature Lists of 30 style, shows how Ethereum is withstanding the test of time as a live bounty open for anyone to break. And if you’re stuck at home with your quarantine pod this Thanksgiving, check out these clever Ethereum conversation starters.
AirSwap Launching Phase II in January 2021. The AirSwap Improvement Proposal (AIP) system is meant to empower the AirSwap community to decide on what comes next for the AirSwap network. We encourage you to join in by using your AST to vote on active proposals on the voting page. With the new AIP governance process underway and new tokenomics, principles, website, and treasury on the horizon, the AirSwap network and community is poised for growth.
Token Interaction Checklist: Introducing features to a highly composable, base-layer smart contract is far from a trivial matter. When there are hundreds, if not thousands, of different uses for tokens, one small change can introduce many vulnerabilities. Countless exploits have occurred as a result of developers deviating, even only slightly, from the ERC-20 token standard assumptions. Shayan Eskandari of ConsenSys Diligence takes a look at some past exploits relating to non-standard token contracts.
Enterprise Ethereum Alliance Launches EthTrust Security Initiative. In other financial industries, credit rating agencies, such as Moody’s, are designed to inform the public about the relative risk associated with a particular financial asset. Yet, within the Ethereum ecosystem, there is no similar registry or rating system for smart contracts. The EEA’s new Working Group will address this issue with a registry system that records which smart contracts have been rigorously tested for security vulnerabilities.
ConsenSys Virtual Event
Today, there is over $13 billion locked in decentralized finance protocols and $20 billion in USD stablecoins. Millions of people across the globe are using the Ethereum blockchain to build and participate in a new economic system that is powered by code and setting new standards for financial access, opportunity, and trust. Join us for a review and analysis of the DeFi ecosystem and its performance in 2020 by Lex Sokolin, Global Fintech Co-Head at ConsenSys.
Members of the Ethereum Foundation's Eth 2.0 Research teamtook to Reddit to answer questions throughout the day in a special AMA. Danny Ryan pointed to a Github discussion on what happens if the deposit contract does not reach 16,384 validators by November 24th; Vitalik Buterin discussed rollups and execution environments; Justin Drake discusses EIP 1559 and fee burning on Eth2.
Eth2 research teams also released the Pyrmont testnet to put Eth2 clients through more extreme testing scenarios. It’s running smoothly with 100,000 validators and 708 epochs and 160 beacon chain nodes.
CBDC projects today ask the question of how to move money around. Bitcoin has answered this question, and perhaps an architecture like Ethereum will solve this for national currencies. The deeper question is, what does an economy connected to a CBDC look like? Lex Sokolin writes about the “Smart Money Economy” in a CoinDesk op-ed.
Yes, you may need a blockchain. Never one to evade controversy, Balaji Srinivasan writes in his blog that public blockchains are “massively multiclient databases, where every user is a root user. They are useful for storing shared state between users, particularly when that shared state represents valuable data that users want to export without fail — like their money.”
What if your digital avatar could traverse different digital worlds? The so-called “metaverse” could be just that. In this new GitHub repo, Graeme Boy, director of engineering at Dharma’s has a thesis: If a community could curate data-rich NFTs that are tradable for their token, then the community's governance token would have value. The community could build engaging digital spaces for using these NFTs, such as games.
Anthony Sassano has this advice for the hot Ethereum market: let’s not get too crazy. But there’s still reason for excitement. In 2017, there were some crude decentralized exchanges like EtherDelta, but now, “we have an entirely on-chain financial system that can give people a real and lasting alternative to the traditional system.”
On-demand webinars & events
Getting Started With Ethereum. Are you a developer interested in blockchain or Ethereum, but do not know where you can get started? In this on-demand webinar, the ConsenSys Developer Relations team provides a walk-through on how to build your first decentralized application, where to find documentation and guides for ConsenSys Products, and answered questions from participants.
The Universal Token for Assets and Payments. Thus far in the Ethereum space, the ERC20 and ERC1400 tokens have set the standards for token functionality within both decentralized finance and also more centralized financial industry use cases. In this on demand webinar, we introduce the evolution in token standards: The Universal Token for Assets and Payments, a token designed to accommodate a much wider range of use cases.
The State of Staking. In this on-demand webinar presented by Codefi, you’ll learn the fundamentals of the Proof of Stake consensus algorithm, the evolution and importance of Proof of Stake, and how you can participate to earn rewards.
